About JEG Consulting

JEG Consulting was founded by Jay Guelfi in the year 2000.   Jay realized that the need for affordable, quality computer help was growing faster than its availability, particularly in the Central Illinois area. His goal was to provide high quality consulting services to both small businesses and individuals at reasonable prices.

Jay has been employed full-time by the University of Illinois since 1997 as a network and systems administrator and as Information Technology management.  He earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois, and an MBA from Eastern Illinois University. Jay has been certified as an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) since 2001. He has also been doing systems and network consulting for several firms throughout the state of Illinois.

Ben Farmer joined the firm as Director of Technical Operations in 2004. Ben graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, and works full-time for the University. His duties have included network and systems administration as well as ASP programming. Ben has been certified as an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) since 2005, and is skilled in desktop and server support, computer hardware, and programming in numerous computer languages. Ben will be leaving us soon, as he is getting married and moving to Chicago with his new bride. We will miss him terribly.

Dave Slater and Eric Hays round out our highly skilled staff. Both work for the University of Illinois as full-time network administrators, and enjoy working on computers in their spare time.
